Ron was ready to head out for a good cup of coffee, as he doesn't like what we have in the room. So we agreed to meet in the Executive Lounge. We had a Mimosa there before going down to the main restaurant. Ron had his usual Spiegeleier (fried eggs) and I had a small omelet.
We left the hotel about 10 AM, headed for Tegernsee. The autobahn traffic was terrible with many notices of "STAU" (traffic jam, congestion) and "GEFAHR" (danger). We finally were able to get off the autobahn at Holfodinger and continue on back roads which were also busy. We arrived in the town of Tegernsee, and traffic was incredible. Turns out they were having their garden and flower market, which appeared to be very well-attended. We couldn't find a parking place anywhere in town. We continued on to Rottach-Egern, and the southern tip of the lake.
Drove down the Seestrasse, along the lake which we had explored a few years ago. We stopped for a wine/water at Andre Bar. The shops along there are gorgeous. Of course, the prices are astronomical. We looked at an Eton golf shirt in the window for $200! All the other clothing went higher from there.
We programmed the restaurant into the GPS, and drove through small residential streets with fabulous villas. The last time we were here was winter, and the summer greenery presents a whole new face. We kept exclaiming "Wow!", as each turn brought more beauty. We found the Postillion restaurant, but no place to park. Ron dropped me, and I went in. I recognized it immediately as a place we had visited on Christmas Day a few years ago. We were given a corner high-top table. The waiter pointed out a barrier where you could park for 1 EU, but it was too late for Ron to know that.
Ron had a big green salad, followed by a pork loin with dumplings and cabbage salad. He thought it was delicious! I had one-half chicken with pommes frittes. Prices were very reasonable for this area.
We had parked in the lot for the Fahrhutte restaurant, but it was quite a long walk. We walked down to the shore briefly. We then drove on the west side of the lake through the town of Bad Wiessee. Then back on the autobahn and to our hotel.
Another light dinner in the Executive Lounge, and an early evening.
