Note: I am now using Ron's computer, which I find extremely difficult and tempermental.......
We had three eggs left, which Ron scrambled, and sauteed some peppers, garlic, onion and mushroom.
After charging all night, my computer said it had "very low battery". We decided it must be because of the frayed cord (as mentioned in an earlier blog).
We had planned to stay in most of the day, enjoying our apartment, views, and getting ready for our departure. Thought we would go out somewhere nice for dinner. However, with the computer problem, we had to go into action. We set off for the Tengelman complex, where there is a Techno Store. I was very exited to see numerous universal laptop chargers on display. When that failed to work out, we set off for lunch. Spotted another electronics store, and Ron pulled in (on the left side on a busy street - a challenge to get out). Anyway, the man there said he didn't think the frayed cord was the problem at all. He said he thinks the piece that is normally inside the computer has broken off into the little connecting pin. He said he had never seen anything like it. This really threw me for a loop. Not only couldn't I use my laptop for the next week, but when we get home I will have to send it off to the Geek Squad probably for one to two weeks. It's not just pictures and blogs I need to do. I have three months of bank statements and credit cards to reconcile. My stacks of receipts are enormous, and having no printer with us, I have not been able to keep up with anything. This is a new rule - NEVER travel for more than a few weeks without a printer. We used to always do that, but being "retired" we let down our guard. It's very nerve-wracking, hoping it can be repaired so I can recover all of my QuickBooks data, pictures, etc.
We headed for the Berggasthof Panorama on the Wank (pronouned Vahnk) Mountain.

We drove around a bit, and made our way to the Almhutte. Normally, this is another place we have walked to through the mountains. This is the small mountain restaurant that specializes in ENORMOUS windbeutel (cream puffs). We shared one that had Irish cream (something like Baileys), coffee ice cream, and TONS of schlag sahne (whipped cream).

That evening was the summer solstice. It is also the Eve of the Fest of St John the Baptist. Traditionally, fires and crosses are lit all through the mountains. We could see many of these fires from our apartment. An interesting end to our stay in Garmisch.
